Days 27-33 – AJATT SS
It’s been quite a while since my last post on AJATT SS. Same reason as last time, nothing new to talk about, so it’s probably better off if I post more quality posts, rather than quantity with the same content.
I previously mentioned that certain days where we add Kanji and some days we don’t. It seems that AJATT SS has a regular routine going on now, where we get the same set of tasks in chronological order, it’s just that the content is different. For example, shadowing different content, browsing diff sites, etc.
What I have also realised is that now we can just choose what we want to shadow, watch, etc. As the videos and what not he tells us to watch may not interest everyone. And fair enough, it’s hard to please everyone. Because the point of this is to have fun. If you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, why do it? Of course we have times where we must do things, which are unavoidable. The things that we have to follow is the the amount of Kanji to input and that’s probably about it.
Activities
I do find that completing the activities take quite a while, including break time. So all in total, about 5hrs + or so including breaks (Almost 95% of that is break) Some people might not have the 5hrs + of free time as they have things to do, places to go. But I think as long as you get the activities completed, it’s all good! (Just my personal opinion, so take it with a grain of salt) Of course stopping in between, when you have to take breaks. Just make sure you’re in contact with Japanese until your next activity.
For example, you do Kanji reps for XX minutes and it tells you to begin the next activity in XX minutes. But you can’t begin this activity in the time specified as you have to go somewhere. So what you do is, just stay in contact with Japanese in some way, either via a portable music player or what not. Then when you have the time, begin the next activity! I hope this makes sense^^”
Equipment
It listed on the site that you need at least $150-$250 or so for extra equipment, media and what not. As it’s been a month, the only purchase I’ve made is the PillowSonic (which I still need to write about) , which costed me around 27 dollars or so including delivery (thank god for the strong AUD^^) You will spend $150-$250 a month if you purchase media but that’s optional. Of course, I’m sure most of you can attain media in any other way without spending that much $$, not that I condone this. He also lists optional equipment which I just mentioned before. For example, dramas, jap games, etc. You don’t have to get this but it will just help you with your Japanese environment.
Anyways, sorry for the late post on AJATT SS and do hope you enjoyed todays instalment.
P.S If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me

How does the shadowing work? Do you shadow a few things alot or alot of things a little?
Just one thing at once, in intervals.
Don’t worry when you don’t post about it that often considering that this SS thing will take around 500 days, you will have a lot to write in the future at this pace
One question, does this optional $150-$250 equipment consist mainly of books?
keep it up ^^
hahah indeed XD , 595 days + XD I should just do one big post!
ah nup, could be video games, drama, movies, portable music player. Some which you don’t have to get if you have already
Thanks!
